Help Your Customers Get
Proper Repairs Paid
When insurance companies refuse to pay for proper repairs, empower your customers to invoke their Right to Appraisal (RTA).
When Insurance Cuts Corners, Customer Safety Suffers
Insurance companies routinely deny payment for procedures that are essential to your customers' safety. When you're forced to cut corners, it's the vehicle owner who pays the price.
Insurance refuses to pay for manufacturer-required procedures that are critical to restoring the vehicle's structural integrity and crash protection for your customer.
Your customer's vehicle came with OEM parts for a reason. Aftermarket alternatives may not provide the same fit, finish, or safety performance in a future collision.
Proper repairs require trained technicians. When insurance won't pay fair labor rates, shops can't afford to do the job right - putting customers at risk.
Modern vehicles rely on ADAS for collision avoidance, lane keeping, and emergency braking. Skipping calibrations after repairs can leave your customer's safety systems malfunctioning.
Every vehicle has specific repair requirements from the manufacturer. Without time to research these procedures, technicians can't ensure the vehicle is restored to pre-loss safety standards.
Hidden damage discovered during repairs must be addressed. When supplements are denied, your customer's vehicle may leave with unrepaired structural or safety issues.
The Right to Appraisal:
Protecting Your Customers
Most auto insurance policies contain an Appraisal Clause - a benefit included in the policy, often written as a paragraph titled "Appraisal." It allows either party to demand an independent appraisal when there's a dispute over the amount of loss. This is your customer's contractual entitlement, not a confrontation - it's simply a process built into their policy.
Insurance companies often require appraisers to be licensed by the Department of Insurance. As licensed auto appraisers and public adjusters with attorney leadership, we meet these requirements nationwide.
When your customer invokes the Right to Appraisal, we assign a licensed appraiser to represent them. As their appraiser, we're on the same side as you - both working for the customer's best interest. You've already done the heavy lifting: corresponding with the insurance company, creating the estimate, being the eyes and ears for your customer. That's why we offer body shop customers our services at a discounted rate.

How the Process Works
Start with the $50 RTA demand - this alone often resolves the dispute. If negotiation is needed, we charge $200 for disputes up to $5,000 or $450 for disputes over $5,000. For complex claims or commercial trucks, we provide custom pricing. We have a 99% success rate - because 99% of insurance claims are genuinely underpaid.
What about an umpire? In less than 1% of appraisal clause assignments, the two appraisers cannot agree and an umpire is needed. Umpire fees are paid directly to the umpire and split between the insured and the insurance company - typically around $300 per side. This is rare because most insurers know when they're underpaying and settle during negotiation.
Addressing Your Concerns
We understand body shops have concerns about recommending the appraisal process to customers. Let's address the common myths.
The Myth: Insurance companies will stop sending work to shops that recommend appraisal.
The Truth: The appraisal clause is your customer's contractual right—not yours. The insured invokes it, not the shop. You're simply informing your customer of their options. Insurance companies cannot legally retaliate against shops for customers exercising their own policy rights.
The Concern: The appraisal process will delay repairs and tie up the vehicle.
The Reality: Most claims resolve quickly—often the $50 demand alone gets results. The appraisal can proceed while repairs are completed. You don't have to wait. The dispute is about payment, not permission to repair safely.
The Concern: Recommending appraisal will damage our Direct Repair Program relationship.
The Reality: DRP agreements don't override your customer's policy rights. The customer makes the decision to invoke appraisal—you're just informing them of their options. Your obligation is to your customer's safety first—that's what builds loyalty and a sustainable business.
Bottom line: Your customer has a contractual right to proper repairs - a benefit included in their policy. As their licensed appraiser, we're on the same side as you, working through the process to get them what they're entitled to. Insurance companies know they're underpaying - that's why 99% of appraisals result in additional payment.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Right to Appraisal (RTA) is a provision in most auto insurance policies that allows either party to demand an independent appraisal when there's a disagreement about the amount of loss. This applies to repair cost disputes, not liability disputes.
The timeline varies by state and insurance company, but typically the process takes 2-4 weeks from demand submission to resolution. We work to expedite the process as much as possible.
You'll need your repair estimate, the insurance company's estimate or response, photos of the damage, and any OEM procedure documentation supporting your repair methods. We'll guide you through exactly what's needed.
The appraisal clause applies to disputes over the amount of loss - things like labor rates, parts, procedures, and repair methods. It does not apply to coverage disputes or liability questions. We'll help determine if your situation qualifies.
